Observant Approach and Epic Baits Power Jason Williamson to Top 20 on the Mississippi River

Epic Baits pro Jason Williamson capped off the 2025 Bassmaster Elite Series season with a strong 18th-place finish on the Mississippi River, thanks to a keen eye for detail.

The key to Williamson’s success was staying observant. By paying attention to small irregularities and subtle holes in the thick duckweed mats, he found where bass were grouping up. To punch through those mats, he relied on a 7’9” Heavy Khaotic Kustom rod, Daiwa Steez 8:1 reel, and 65 lb Gamma braid, anchored by an Epic Tungsten 1 oz Flipping Weight (black) and Epic bobber stop. That setup, paired with an Owner 4/0 Jungle Flippin Hook and Zoom Speed Craw (black/blue flake), delivered consistent bites.

“It was a good way to wrap up the Elite Series season,” Williamson said. “Staying patient, paying attention to those little details, and having confidence in my gear really made the difference. I caught a ton of fish during the event and was able to use the same Epic tungsten weight the entire time with absolutely no issues.”

In the end, it was a combination of sharp observation and trust in his Epic Baits equipment that allowed Williamson to close out the season with another Top 20 finish.
